ENTRIES REOPEN 10th APRIL
White Star Running returns once again to Rushmore Estate in Wiltshire and its amazing countryside scenery to host the popular Ox weekend of races. A series of trail races held over weekend that consist of a marathon, daytime and nighttime 10Ks, half-marathon, 50-mile race and a ‘do-as-many-laps-as-you-fancy’ 12-hour Frolic event for teams and solos. With about 500-600ft of ascent per 10K lap, this is far from flat, but it’s set in stunning forest and woodland, which provides the canvas for bluebells and wild garlic. This event has something that will appeal to all, from speedsters who want to test themselves at the front to a more relaxed, fun, everyone-welcome friendly party at the back.
The Ox race weekend offers you the special chance to get your hands on an Epic medal. Complete the 50-mile race and one other to earn your extra bling, or set yourself the monster of all challenges and complete all five races. See Epic entry here.
Day One that is Friday:
Ox of two Halfs– An out and back course sort of, you run to the turn around point at 13.5 miles then go back the way you came….seeing all the hills you ran do going weeeee. There will be things to do on the course. Distance approx 43 km in length…27 ish miles ….26.2 is for losers. Hills lots…about 3,800 feet of ascent….7,30 hour cut off. You have 8 weeks or so train some hills.
Dark Ox Like previous year starts in the light ish and gets darker. Get a good head torch, Lots opportunities to fall over and get lost. Distance 10.75km
Day two Saturday:
Ox 50 – 8 laps, the 1st Lap is 7.6km, 7 subsequent laps of 10.75. Grand total 82.8km or in old money 51.5 miles. Frolic laps 10.75km each
Dog runners watch the woofers paws its very dry out there maybe get some wax for the pads…do not let the dogs off the lead as the woods are full of deer and pheasants….and peasants.
Day Three Sunday
Light Ox is 10.75km lap as above, Dog runners as above.
Ox Half is a different start to all the other races. Tough race this and good finisher for the weekend. Get some hill training in 1700 feet of climb…warned ya13.5 miles long
