Camping with Keep Running Rural 2024

We love camping at our races. It turns a race into a proper weekend event, getting all our fab runners together, socialising and running. If you’ve not camped with us before then here is everything you need to know!

Our camping is pretty ‘back to basics’, so if you’re hoping for electric, posh loos or allocated pitches, then you will be out of luck! However, what we can offer is a massive field so you can pick your own space and spread out. You can pitch up with your friends and family, and make a weekend of it. All of our venues are in the countryside, so you will get great views and a rural experience. The camping field is located close to the start/finish area, so you have minimal commute to the start line or to stagger back after your run. You can park up next to your pitch too.

Basic facilities

We always have toilets on site – these are of the portable variety. They will be cleaned regularly, but please have respect for our team and leave them as you’d like to find them. We ask you to bring your own loo roll as well. We also have a couple of showers. The water is warm and again these are cleaned, but they can get busy when runners are finishing their races. You’ll meet nice people in the queue, or you can chill at your pitch and come back later. There is a drinking water supply on site.

To keep you fuelled up and well fed, there are a range of caterers that we use who are open for breakfast, lunch and dinner; timings will be given out nearer the time. You can cook at your pitch as well, but do check the rules for each event on fires and what you can and can’t do. We have waste bags around the site and dog poo bins, but please be responsible and leave the site as you wish to find it – these fields are used by the landowners, and we’re grateful that we have permission to offer camping.

There’s always a central tent/bar area where campers can gather and enjoy a cider after a hard day’s running. This varies depending on the event, but you’ll have somewhere to relax. We also try and have entertainment for you on one night – the barn dance at Giants Head is quite legendary! We are family and dog friendly; just respect your fellow campers and the site.

Prices and booking

We think our prices are very reasonable. Camping can be very expensive in these parts, but we have one charge per pitch – we don’t charge for extra people or dogs or children. One tent or one van on one pitch = one cost; up to you how many people you can get in your tent! If you need, for example, a van and a tent, then you need two pitches. The campsite will open either on the morning of the races (if they start later in the day), or the afternoon before, and you will need to vacate on the last day of racing. All the details of when you can enter the site and when you need to leave can be found on the entry page or will be communicated closer to the event.

If you don’t pre-book and turn up on the day wanting to camp, this will be subject to availability and a £5 admin surcharge.

Camping is booked in the same way as our races; you can see the Camping option on the entry page for each open race.

At the moment, you can book your camping for:

Ox Races: 17th-19th May (2 nights)

Giants Head Weekend: 14th-16th June (2 nights)

Cider & Piggy Plod: 19th-21st July (2 nights)

Camping is a fixed price for the weekend, regardless of whether you stay both nights, or just one.
