What Makes Us Different?

We don’t follow the herd

We're not just a race company.

We’re a community of runners who put on races for people who like to be socialable when they run and enjoy discovering some of Dorset’s hidden treasures with amazing views. We’re a race company with a sense of humour, reminding you why you love to run.

Most of our events happen over weekends, with a family-friendly festival feeling. There’s camping, meeting new people, running somewhere spectacular and distances to suit all abilities in a supportive atmosphere.

Free bonus miles

The safety of our runners and marshals is paramount in everything we do, and we have some amazingly positive volunteers to help cheer you on. We like to create an inclusive atmosphere at events; no matter how far or fast you run, everyone is welcome.

In fact, the most fun is usually the party at the back – our friendly sweepers make sure no one’s last. All races are fully supported by experienced marshals, medics and a race event team to help you get to the finish line. As we run on trails, don’t be surprised if it’s not exactly 3.1, 13.1 or 26.2 miles. Bonus miles are awesome!

Challenging but worth the Effort

The event locations we choose show off Dorset’s beautiful countryside. Our races are challenging, with big hills, sometimes tough and unpredictable, but very rewarding all at the same time. We work closely with landowners to get access to some private land and are very involved with local communities and organisations.

Family friendly

Our event weekends often turn into a family holiday with a bit of running thrown in! We welcome spectators and cater for non-running partners and friends. Equally, if you come alone you will definitely feel part of the community. Our finish line dream team greet you with your medal and goodies. And what amazing bling those medals are! Each one is beautifully crafted to reflect the race and its uniqueness.

We look after you

We have a ‘fair for all’ policy. We’re a small company and pride ourselves on putting the runner first – this includes in our handling of race entries. We can’t offer refunds, but we offer the chance to defer your place to another race or you can transfer your place to another runner, without a crazy administration fee. These can both be done up to 2 weeks before an event.

Love station™– Unique to White Star Running

We realise that running a long way is not easy and presents some challenges. Heat, cold, sun, rain, wind, falling over, hills, exhaustion, etc, can all take a toll and we are keen not to have any casualties! So that is why we have the Love Station™ so you can carry on your merry way. It’s our aid station towards the end of the race where you can have a sit down, drink a glass of something like cider or cola, grab some cake or a Scotch egg, just to help you get yourself together before venturing to the finish line.

The absolute best trail running events company! Their races are as serious or irreverent as you wish them to be... I particularly enjoy the fancy dress element, and the 'Love Station' aid station; consisting of funky tunes, delicious … More snacks and also booze, for that little schnapps pick me up at mile 20!! 🤪The team are super friendly, helpful, approachable and genuine.
Oh, and the medals are bloody amazing! 🤩🏅💖

Took part in the Dark Ox event on Friday night with a few buddies form my running club. As always with White Star, this was a well organised and enjoyable run event. The weather was sh*t, the mud was plentiful & the distance was more … More than 10k, so typical WSR, what's not to like!!!! On a serious note, thank you Andy we'll be back. xxx

First time I have done a WSR event and I will definitely be back. 6 hour journey for me to get there, but worth it for such a well organised event over a beautiful course. Everyone involved were cheerful and friendly. Goodie bags were amazing! … More Dog friendly, child friendly, you name it, they thought of it.

This was my first time running with WSR after my Jurassic 10k was deferred after a storm and they quite rightly cancelled for safety. I totally forgot that I had transferred onto the unicorn frolic until 3 weeks ago but had such a fun time. … More
I have worked in the hospital throughout covid and this was my first public event/outing since restrictions have been lifted. I felt very safe and secure throughout so much so I have booked on the summer larmer event. WsR is a friendly, family friendly well organised organisation. Keep the good work up
